Nothing says “I love you” like a handmade gift from the heart. This Mother’s Day handprint and footprint coaster project is sure to be a win-win for all — the kids will love making it and Mom will love receiving it. All it takes to get started is a quick trip to the hardware store, a pair of hands and feet and some inspiration.
Looking for a setup that’s perfect for projects like this? A Gladiator® 8' Wide Adjustable Height Hardwood Workbench gives you the space you need to let the paint fly, Small Items Bins help keep supplies right at-hand and a 6' Wide 9-Outlet Workbench Powerstrip is great for quickly heating up the glue gun, so you can add a bit of bling to your project.
What You’ll Need to Make Her Mother’s Day:
- 4"×4" Tiles
- Kid-friendly Paint
- Foam Brushes
- Decoupage/Craft Glue
- 3/8" Felt Bumpers
- 1 Roll of Twine
- Paper Plate or Bowl
Step 1: Paint your tiles — don’t be afraid to get creative
Tip: While this project’s perfect for the little ones, older kids may enjoy painting their own pictures or applying photos to the tiles using decoupage/craft glue.
Step 2: Seal your gift with decoupage/craft glue
Apply thin coats to your finished product. Allow 15 – 20 minutes of drying time between layers — 2 should do the trick!
Step 3: Add bumpers to the bottom
Place one on each corner. If you want to skip the bumpers, these tiles will also look great in the garden or even in a picture frame.
Step 4: Wrap it all up
Tip: Who needs wrapping paper? For a final touch that’s simple and beautiful, add twine, ribbon, yarn or whatever material you have around the house.
