Hosting a holiday soiree can be anxiety-inducing even for the most seasoned party pro. While I have thrown my fair share of festive fetes, I meet each holiday season with a mix of dread and excitement. Every year, after every party, I collapse on my couch and say “never again.”
Yet when December rolls around, I come down with a case of holiday amnesia. All I can remember are the good times: all my friends and family in one place, the fabulous food and drinks and the festive feeling that fills the air. What I fail to remember is the hard work that goes into a party- the invites, the coordinating, the setup and cleanup, the last minute hiccups.
In my experience, executing a successful holiday bash means tapping into all of your resources. Many of us forget to consider the best party resource of all: the garage. In an effort to soothe the pre-party jitters (both yours and mine), here a few quick ways to use your garage to its fullest potential:
• Think of the garage as your prep and storage space. A Bamboo-top Workbench is great for assembling hors d’oeuvres, while a Chillerator is perfect for stashing platters and trays.
• Strategically plan your menu. Select items that can be prepared in advanced and stored until the party begins. Think finger food: veggie platters, chips and dip, and items that can be heated up for a few minutes and then served.
• Set up a drink station in the garage. Keep the brews cold in your Chillerator, and turn the GearBox into a mini-bar. Display your liquor and wine selection on a GearLoft shelf for easy access. This way, you never have to worry about refilling thirsty guests.
• Instead of asking your guests to bring a drink or dessert, ask your guests to bring a toy instead. You can collect the toys and donate them to your local Toys For Tots drive.
• Stock up on disposable storage containers and send your guests home with the leftovers of their choice. Stick to disposable plates and utensils for easier cleanup.
Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy yourself. Put in the extra work beforehand, and you’ll have no problem celebrating the season with the ones you love most.

The idea for Gladiator GarageWorks came from real consumers who expressed a need to somehow organize their garage clutter. Armed with this consumer knowledge and seeing the garage as an untapped room within the home, Whirlpool Corporation developed and launched the Gladiator Garageworks brand.
