Hello? Is This Thing On?

By Mario D’Ovidio, General Manager

What do you get when you combine great personalities (like Orange County Chopper founder Paul Teutel Sr., A.J. Foyt from Indy car racing) with once-in-a-lifetime projects and events (think Extreme Home Makeover and Woodward Dream Cruise)? The answer quite simply is some amazing adventures that all start with the garage.

Welcome! I’m Mario, General Manager of Whirlpool Corporation’s Gladiator® GarageWorks brand. I want to share with you some of the things that make me so excited to be part of such a cool brand. First, it’s the great products: style with attitude paired with durable materials that make up a completely versatile system. We have some amazing new concepts and we want your input to make them legendary.

Second, I have a team that’s extremely passionate and dedicated. Best of all, they’re all different. Some of them are “gear heads,” some of them are “weekend warriors” but all of them are cool, full of great information and ideas. You’ll meet and talk with them all as we venture into the blogosphere.

So let’s start at the beginning: the birth of one of the coolest brands you’ll ever know.

Look Out, Look In: Opening the Door to a New Garage Frontier
Seven years ago, Whirlpool Corporation recognized a room in the home that was not well serviced. A very important room that often acts as the front door to your home—the garage. Chaos and clutter ruled the garage. Kids’ toys, family bicycles, lawn and garden equipment, leftover paint supplies, camping and sporting goods and sometimes a makeshift workshop all vying for space with the one thing that is supposed to be in the garage—the car. Often the second biggest purchase for a homeowner, the car was being relegated to the driveway rather than protected in the garage. Occasionally, the “stuff” inside was rearranged to get the car in the garage but it wasn’t long until chaos once again took over.

Thus Gladiator® GarageWorks was born. A line of storage and organizational products designed with flexibility, durability and style. Our products offer appropriate solutions to store the many items you need to keep organized. Gladiator® GarageWorks is an innovative, well-thought-out system that is flexible enough to grow and change with your garage storage needs and durable enough to stand up to heavy loads and the toughest environment in your home—the garage. In short, products that make the Jones’ want to keep up with you.

Talk about a garage hub—this is it. Our blog will offer tips and tricks to getting your garage chaos under control, provide inspiration, highlight cool events and activities related to the garage and will even feature your stories. If you come across relevant and fun links, let us know and we’ll check ‘em out. Watch for contests, promotions and news about Gladiator brand and share with friends and family.

Your First Tip Is Our Mantra
It’s Time To Rethink The Garage.
Treat it like another room in your home and you will be surprised how easy it is to get that car back in the garage. If that’s not important to you, then you’ll have rediscovered a place that can double as storage space and a great area to entertain.

  • Kids too loud inside? No worries, the garage can be a clean, safe environment for them to hang out in
  • Honey-do list too long and you need a place to get away and hide out? Create a man cave or a workshop
  • Need a stress reliever? Gardening can be good for the soul if you have an uncluttered space to work
  • Opening a home-based business? Consider the garage – after all, some of the most well-known brands started there

What I’m getting at is that the garage doesn’t have to be a dirty, scary place full of “who knows what.” Create the space of your dreams. We’ll help you discover how.
